What People are Saying

I cannot express enough how much I appreciate the effort and time Anna puts into the drama workshops. This first experience of extra-curricular drama in our school was fantastic and I was continually amazed at the quality of sessions, and performances. Anna’s commitment, energy and enthusiasm are boundless. She leads and inspires by example and is a constant source of innovative ideas. She helps each student to discover and develop their own talents.

My daughter really enjoys her weekly drama lessons with Anna, who is a wonderful teacher and always makes the lessons fun. There are plenty of opportunities for the children to take part in performances which happen throughout the year. Thank you.

Young Performers Summer Club 27th – 31st July 2015
A week of games, creativity and performance – hosted by CUBE, Deda and Siteline Productions

You know something brilliant is about to happen when parents and children are queuing, eagerly waiting amidst a buzz of enthusiasm for doors to open…all before 9am on a Monday morning

Monday the 27th July saw the launch of Deda’s Summer Fun Club season, kicking off with the Young Performers week, hosted in collaboration with CUBE and Siteline Productions.

The day began with games galore – Zap, Splat, Fruit Bowl, Wink Murder…you name it, we played it. The perfect way to break the ice, encourage interaction and develop friendships. After lunch things got serious…rehearsals began for the end of week performance.

Day two saw another lively start to the young performers week. I was amazed at how well the children remembered the song and dance they had learnt only yesterday. We quickly moved on to setting the first scene, an American baseball match! The children split into groups and created their own ideas about how to stage the scene. After a successful mini showcase, we collaborated as a whole group, merging ideas to form a complete piece.

The afternoon took us outside to the Cathedral Green where we produced a soundscape for a scene based in the North Pole. The children began by using their voices to generate the sounds of wind, rain and ice. They then introduced a variety of instruments, layering noises to create a winter wonderland

Back to Déda and on to the next part of the journey. The children used their bodies to form a steam train which allowed them to travel to Brazil. Grab your whistles and maracas, its Carnival time!

From Brazil to Africa and an afternoon of Mask Making and animal improvisation to the soundtrack from the Lion King. One of the joys of the creative process throughout the week was watching the children work with each other to develop scenes, ideas and concepts that were all used to create the final performance.
“Extra, extra, read all about it…” Friday. SHOW TIME.

After a focused morning of rehearsals and last minute tweaks, the theatre doors were opened to an excited babble of friends and families.

Professor Globetrotter lead the journey that began at a baseball match in America, took a train to a carnival in Brazil, a ski trip to the North Pole, flew in a hot air balloon to Africa, a gondola through Italy before ending up in China for a new year celebration!

The energy from the children on stage was wonderful and they performed like true professionals. After a round of applause, the final bows and pictures were taken and following a brilliant week goodbyes were said…until next year!

We thought the performance was excellent, the staff must have worked really hard to support the children in staging it.
